Activity reports provide a vehicle to communicate sales activities between the sales team, sales management, and the rest of the company.   Having a sales activity report that focuses on the information that is specific to your business will provide the maximum amount of information with the most efficient use of your time.

The sales activity report contains the information that you need to track business opportunities as well as the type and quantities of activities of your sales team.   Regular activity report reviews will facilitate collaboration between your sales team members and motivate your team to demonstrate their productivity in front of their peers.

Like a sales forecast, a sales activity report may be represented in a spreadsheet, a CRM system or a standard form, but it differs in that it is more inclusive of business development and strategic initiatives that would not be reflected in a forecast.
